Commitment

Sustainability is the core to our mission to help the world run better.

SAP has led by example in its own sustainability business practices, processes, and operations for the past 10 years. We are continuously strengthening our sustainability commitments:

• to become carbon neutral in our own operations by 2023
• to become a “net zero” enterprise by 2030 – by targeting the entire value chain
• to respect human rights and ensure the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence

SAP is eager to help create a future that looks greener, cleaner, and more equal than the world we live in today, and is uniquely positioned to help its more than 400,000 customers address their sustainability challenges and opportunities. To drive sustainable business transformation, top and bottom line need to be complemend by another dimension: the green line. But making real progress on sustainability requires real data. SAP is rising to that challenge by introducing the green ledger: ledger-based accounting for carbon so companies can manage the carbon entering and leaving their systems and balance their “carbon books” the same way they balance their financial books. To report, record, and act based on actuals, not averages – including scope 3 emissions.

It’s not enough to have this transparency within a company, as 90 percent of emissions are not produced within an organization’s four walls but along their entire value chain. SAP is connecting millions of companies across the globe in one large business network, thereby moving enterprises meaningfully toward a more sustainable world.
